History

In September 2013, after several months of gathering for prayer, eleven families entered a covenant with each other and with Midwest Church Extension (MCE) to work together to establish a Bible teaching church in St. Louis, MO. In our early days we agreed we would be known as Heritage Bible Church (HBC). The name Heritage reminds us that our heritage is the Word of God (Psalm 119:111). On July 27th, 2014 HBC was chartered as a member church of IFCA International. This date also marked the acceptance of our initial 22 members after each was interviewed by MCE elders, Pastor Henry Vosburgh and Pastor Tim Jeske to assure each met the requirements of membership. The initial members then voted unanimously to ratify our first church constitution. Pastor Henry and Pastor Tim, were present along with many of our brothers and sisters from nearby IFCA churches to help us celebrate this event.

During our first two years, we were blessed to have a number of local pastors preach God’s Word for our church family. MCE’s Pastor Tim Jeske traveled here from Dubuque, IA once a month for this purpose. Pastor Jim McIntosh, who served as Academic Dean at Brooke’s Bible College for many years, preached two or three times each month while Pastor Marty Zide of Midwest Messianic Center also preached many times during each of our first two years.

In October 2015 God blessed us with our first and current full time pastor, David Georgeff and his wife, Phyllis. At this point, Pastor Dave, along with Pastor Henry Vosburgh and Pastor Tim Jeske, served as our elder leadership.

On October 8th, 2017, the members of HBC confirmed, by a vote of the members, four of our members as elders to serve along with Pastor Dave Georgeff. The pastors of MCE and Pastor Dave had evaluated each of the noted men to be qualified to serve as elders based on the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. You can learn about each of our current elders on our Pastor & Elders page

On August 26th, 2018 HBC “graduated” from MCE to become an independent church while continuing our affiliation with IFCA International. The elders noted above and Pastor Dave serve as our spiritual leadership. Up to this point, we held our Sunday gatherings at a wedding chapel in St Louis’ North county. In September of 2018 HBC’s members approved pursuing a new meeting location at 301 Droste Rd in St. Charles, MO. We held our first worship service at 301 Droste on July 14th, 2019 as we thanked God for providing the resources and perseverance to complete the work, most of which was done by the HBC family. We welcome you to join us in the biblical, challenging, and rewarding process of planting a local body of believers which seeks to follow the New Testament’s directions for the local church.
